Houston women’s basketball added more firepower for its upcoming season, bringing in guard Raegan McCowan after a prolific three seasons at Western Illinois, announcing her arrival on her Instagram page.
In her junior season of the 2025-26 campaign, McCowan averaged 17 points and 6.4 rebounds in 10 games before suffering a dislocation of her left elbow in December, which sidelined her for the remainder of the season. The Leathernecks went on to become the Ohio Valley Conference regular-season and conference tournament champions en route to their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2017, when they were in the Summit League.
In the two previous seasons in 23-24 and 24-25, she averaged 21 points and eight rebounds in 64 games. She made the All-OVC First Team twice, became the fastest player in program history to reach 1,000 career points in just 50 games and broke the program records for most points scored in a single season (759) and most field goals made in a single season (277).
