Senior setter Lottie Scully surpassed 3,000 career assists and is now just one of 27 active Division I players to achieve this milestone.
However, Houston volleyball still fell to West Virginia in a five-set battle inside the WVU Coliseum.
After powering their way to a two-set lead, the Cougars once again failed to close out the match and allowed West Virginia to win three straight sets to reverse sweep Houston.
The Cougars had a real shot at the sweep in the third set, jumping out to an early 11-6 lead.
WVU responded with five straight points and carried that momentum to a 25-20 victory.
West Virginia then held on to a late lead to win the fourth set 25-22 and dominated the final set, winning 15-7.
Although Houston started strong, WVU took over the last three sets and led in almost every statistical category.
Even with the loss, Houston continues to have players show out on the floor.
Scully finished the match with 24 assists and nine digs, and she continues to be one of the top setters in the Big 12 Conference.
Senior libero Alana Torres-Rivera also had a strong defensive match, totaling 34 digs, which led all players.
Redshirt sophomore outside hitter Alyssa Gonzales led the team with 12 kills and tacked on two aces.
With the loss, the Cougars fall to 8-13 overall and sit in last place in the Big 12 with a 1-9 record.
Next up, Houston volleyball will continue its road trip with a matchup against the Cincinnati Bearcats on Saturday, Nov. 1, at 12 p.m.
