An emotional Keisean Henderson, the nation’s No. 1 recruit, signed his letter of intent to play for Houston football on Wednesday afternoon at The Legacy School of Sports Sciences in Spring, Texas.

“Everyone knows I don’t really cry. I am a smiley guy,” Henderson said, taking a moment to gather himself. “People have been doubting me since Day 1, and nobody wanted me to play quarterback. I have been working for this moment my whole life.”

During his senior year at quarterback, Henderson completed 74.5% of his passes and threw for 3,741 yards and 44 touchdowns, while only being intercepted six times across 10 games played.

He also leaned more on his rushing ability in 2025, running for 591 rushing yards with 10 rushing touchdowns and posted two 100-yard games.

The 6-foot-3, 170-pound dual-threat committed to UH in May 2024 and ended his recruitment in June, sticking with the Cougars out of 40 offers to headline the No. 35 ranked 2026 class.

“We’re so excited to have Keisean and his family join us…had him for a long time, stayed loyal to us,” coach Willie Fritz said. “We’re excited about his future here in the quarterback room.”
