This past weekend, Houston track & field competed at the 98th annual Texas Relay meet at the University of Texas at Austin. 

UH brought home four first-place performances, those being in the men’s 4×100 meter, men’s 4×200 meter, women’s javelin throw and in the women’s 4×400 meter, getting the program’s second-ever win in that event and the first since 1992.

The women’s 4×400 team consisted of Freshman Kamree Wolridge, sophomore Carlysia Cresser, freshman Jada Stanford and junior Michaela Mouton with a time of 3:33.79, which is also the sixth fastest time in program history.

Junior Reagan Reedy got first in the javelin throw, getting a distance of 45.66 meters for her first win of the season.

The men’s 4×100-meter team consisted of graduate Ryan Mulholland, junior Michael Onilogbo, senior Dakari Charlton and senior Louie Hinchliffe. They earned a time of 38.69, tying the fourth fastest time in the nation this season.

The men’s 4×200-meter team consisted of junior Jaelyn Reeves-Lile, senior Danarrion Ard, freshman Sean Aigboboh and graduate Trey East III, running a time of 1:22.48.

In women’s shot put, sophomore Cleo Agyepong placed second with a distance of 15.93 meters.

Junior Antrea Mita made his highly anticipated outdoor season debut after qualifying for the national indoor competition earlier this year. Mita would place second in the men’s high jump with a height of 2.14 meters. 

The men’s 4×100 meter team of sophomore Darius Rodgers, freshman Micah Washington, Ard and Aigboboh placed second, getting a time of 40.68.

Lastly, the women’s 4×200 meter team of senior Matilde Ochoa, sophomore Norah Nwonumah, Cresser and Mouton got third at the meet with a time of 1:35.20.

The Cougars in total won three titles with four top-three finishes.

UH will compete next at the 44 Farms Team Invitational in College Station, Texas, from April 9-11.
