Houston diving concluded three days of competition at the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships Wednesday at Rec Center Natatorium in College Station, Texas, with multiple Cougars securing spots in the Division I Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships.

Junior Michelle McLeod qualified for the NCAA Championships in all three diving events across the three-day meet, becoming the first Houston diver since Julia Lonnegren in 2012 to accomplish the feat in the one season.

McLeod opened competition Monday with a score of 554.70 in the 1-meter event, earning her third career trip to the national championships and her first qualification in the event.

Freshman Maisy Woloszyn also competed in the 1-meter on the opening day of competition, finishing 30th overall with 249.95 points.

Houston added two more NCAA qualifications on Tuesday during the 3-meter competition. Woloszyn secured her first career NCAA berth after recording a score of 613.95, while McLeod followed with 600.70 points to qualify in the 3-meter for the second consecutive season.

Sophomore Caroline Roelen also competed in the 3-meter event, placing 12th overall with a score of 300.60.

McLeod completed her sweep of the diving events on Wednesday by qualifying in the platform competition, placing fifth with a score of 541.95.

In the same event, Roelen finished 14th overall with 466.20 points.

Both efforts amounted to Houston sending four student-athletes to the NCAA Championships for the second consecutive season.

McLeod will compete in the 1-meter, 3-meter and platform events, while Woloszyn will represent the Cougars in the 3-meter event.

The divers will be joined by swimmers Virag Peter, in the 200-yard breaststroke, and Alexia Duncan, in the 100-yard backstroke, when the championships take place March 18-21 at the McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta.
