With the transfer portal now open until Jan. 16, many players will be searching for a new home for the 2026 season.
Several Cougars announced they would enter the transfer portal over the past week, but now Houston has some promising news.
The FBS leading rusher, junior running back Cam Cook, is set to visit Houston, per transfer portal insider Chris Hummer.
The former Jacksonville State Gamecock had a breakout year with 295 carries for 1,659 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns.
Cook is a powerful runner, and he is a big play waiting to happen, averaging 5.6 yards per carry.
With the departure of senior running back Dean Connors and sophomore running back J’Marion Burnette entering the transfer portal, Cook could be a top priority for the Cougars, and he is ranked as the No. 14 running back in the portal.
