A third player has bid farewell through the transfer portal to the Houston men’s basketball program, as redshirt sophomore center Jacob McFarland’s plans to enter the transfer portal were announced Monday per Joe Tipton of On3.

McFarland first joined the team for the 2023-24 season, where he redshirted. On Oct. 29th, 2024, in his redshirt freshman season, McFarland suffered a broken leg during practice, requiring two surgeries.

After more than 900 days out, McFarland made his debut for the Cougars on Dec. 10th, 2025, in Houston’s 80-38 win over Jackson State at Fertitta Center. He ended up playing four games in the 2025-26 season, logging three rebounds and a steal.
