Houston soccer has strengthened its team with two signings at midfield and in goal over the past several days.
On Friday, Dec. 5, redshirt junior midfielder Danille Shannon was announced to the team.
The Atascosita, Texas native returns to the Lone Star State after spending three seasons at LSU. She reunites with her sister, junior midfielder Ava Shannon, and will enter her senior season after missing the entire 2025 season due to injury.
“Danielle is a top SEC competitor with the engine and versatility to impact every phase of play,” coach Williams said. “Bringing her back home to play in front of the community that raised her is huge, not just for her and her family, but for the local community and our program.”
In her most recently played season in 2024, Shannon started all 21 games, the only player on the Tigers to do so, and played 1,451 minutes, showcasing her consistent availability. She was a crucial piece of the offense, with one goal and two assists, while also being the engine of the midfield.
Louisiana State made a run in the NCAA Tournament, losing in the Round of 16 to No. 8 Vanderbilt.
In three seasons with the Tigers, Shannon played 46 games, starting in 38 of them, with one goal and five assists.
On Monday, Dec. 8, Williams announced the signing of redshirt junior goalkeeper Kate Borgmeier.
The Salt Lake City, Utah native comes to the Cougars after spending four seasons with St. Mary’s (CA).
“Kate is a well-rounded, technically sharp goalkeeper who comes from a strong Saint Mary’s program,” Williams said. “We’re excited to bring her into the goalkeeper unit and have her help drive the entire program forward.”
During her four seasons, she helped the Gaels win 34 games, including the 2025 season, when she helped the team achieve a 12-2-4 record and a second-place finish in the West Coast Conference.
