Houston men’s basketball’s full regular-season schedule was announced Thursday afternoon.
With less than two months remaining until the season-opener, here is a rundown of the Cougars’ 34-game regular-season slate.
Non-conference play
Houston will open non-conference play on Nov. 2 at Fertitta Center against La Salle, then travel to Lake Tahoe, Nev., to face California on Nov. 8 as part of the Caesars Lake Tahoe Classic.
Three days later, the Cougars and the Jacksonville State Gamecocks will meet at home on Nov. 11. From there, Houston will partake in the Players’ Era Festival for the third straight season. The competition opens on Nov. 17 against Rutgers, then continues with either Florida or Notre Dame on Nov. 18. UH’s final game of its stay will be against either Auburn, West Virginia, Kansas, or UNLV on Nov. 19.
To close out the month, Houston and Oakland will once again face off at home on Nov. 27. The matchup is part of coach Greg Kampe and the Bears’ gauntlet non-conference schedule, which includes nine total matchups against Power Four programs. It will be a quick turnaround for UH, which will play Queens at Fertitta Center on Nov. 29.
The Cougars will continue their stretch of home games when they take on Central Arkansas for the first time in program history on Dec. 2. Houston will then face Texas State at Fertitta Center for the first time since the 2023-24 season, when they meet on Dec. 5.
A stretch of three straight neutral-site matchups begins with a Dec. 8 game against Alabama in the Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden in New York. Afterward, Houston will play at Toyota Center as it participates in Houston Hoopfest against LSU on Dec. 13.
The two programs last met in the 2018-19 season, when the Cougars won 82-76 at home.
Houston then travels to Jacksonville, Fla. to match up with Florida State on Dec. 20 as part of the Jacksonville Hoops Showdown inside VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena.
Non-conference play concludes with a home meeting against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Dec. 29.
Big 12 Conference play
Houston opens Big 12 play at Fertitta Center on Jan. 2 against in-state opponent TCU, before embarking on back-to-back road contests against Kansas State (Jan. 5) and Baylor (Jan. 10).
The Cougars return home to host Iowa State on Jan. 13, then head back on the road to play Colorado in Boulder, Colo., on Jan. 16. From there, Houston will host Texas Tech on Jan. 19.
Houston’s third meeting in a week comes against Arizona State on Jan. 23 in Tempe, Ariz., before closing out the month at home against BYU on Jan. 30.
The first of two Big Monday matchups for UH comes at Fertitta Center on Feb. 1 against Kansas, followed by consecutive away games against Arizona (Feb. 6) and UCF (Feb. 10).
After taking on Utah at home on Feb. 13, Houston will swiftly travel to Lubbock, Texas, for its second meeting of the season against Texas Tech and second Big Monday matchup on Feb. 15.
Back-to-back home games follow, when the Cougars face Oklahoma State on Feb. 21 and Colorado on Feb. 24. Houston’s penultimate road game comes against West Virginia on Feb. 27.
To open March, Houston heads to Cincinnati, Ohio, to face the Bearcats on March 2.
Houston closes out regular season conference play against reigning Big 12 champion Arizona at home on March 6.
