After two seasons at Houston, coach Katarina Adamovic is leaving the program to return to Oklahoma State as the Cowgirls’ next head coach, the school announced Tuesday.

Adamovic helped transform the Cougars from a struggling program into one of the nation’s surprise programs this season. Houston opened the year with its first 11-0 start since 1990, finishing with eight conference wins and a 9-2 record at home.

She arrived at Houston in 2024 during the program’s second season in the Big 12, inheriting a team that managed zero conference victories the previous year. Adamovic quickly reshaped the roster and coaching staff, bringing new energy and expectations to the program.

The turnaround followed immediately. After finishing 4-16 the year of her arrival, the Cougars improved to 17-6 in her second season.

Adamovic now returns to her alma mater, where she will look to bring the same leadership and success to the Cowgirls program.

UH Athletics announced that a national search for Houston’s next head coach is underway.
