Houston women’s golf completed one of the best overall performances over the weekend, placing second at the Big 12 Championship at Dallas Athletic Club.
The team finished the tournament at 1-over 865, marking its highest finish in the Big 12 Conference since joining in 2022.
Junior Maelynn Kim and seniors Natalie Saint Germain and Moa Svedenskiöld all powered the Cougars to their runner-up finish, and the trio all earned All-Tournament Team honors resulting from their performances over the weekend.
Kim led the way with a third-place finish, firing a 3-under 213 in the tournament for the best conference showing of her career.
Saint Germain followed with a tie for fifth at 1-under 215, while Svedenskiöld secured 10th place at 217, earning her third career all-tournament selection.
What allowed Houston to place second overall was it starting out on top early. The Cougars began the tournament with back-to-back under-par 285 rounds, which had them on top of the leaderboard going into the final day.
Despite being in the lead after the first two days of the tournament, the Cougars ultimately could not hold off Iowa State, who claimed the team title at 5-under 859.
Still, the Cougars battled through strong winds and harsh conditions and were still able to finish second in the conference championship.
Now, the team awaits its placement in the NCAA Tournament, with the selections set to be announced on April 29.
