Svedenskiold, Saldana headline Houston’s eighth-place finish in MountainView Collegiate

In part from senior Alexa Saldana and Moa Svedenskiold’s top-25 finishes, Houston women’s golf secured an eighth-place team finish in the MountainView Collegiate at The Preserve at Saddleback in Tucson, Ariz. on Sunday.

With her three-birdie final round, Svedenskiold secured a team-leading 17th overall finish at 1-under, tied with three competitors. 

Bolstering part of her overall mark was her 13th-place finish on the leaderboard Saturday, from a bogie-free 2-under 70 second round with two birdies.

Saldana’s team-best 2-under 70 finish in the final round, thanks to three birdies, helped amount to her three-day score of 216, leaving her tied at 21st with three other contestants. 

Both Saldana and Svedenskiold’s efforts helped Houston finish with 14 birdies total towards the event’s seventh-best team final round finish. 

Up next, the Cougars will compete in the Veritex Bank Collegiate, hosted by SMU, at Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas from April 5-7.
