Houston women’s golf finishes eighth at Chevron Collegiate

Houston women’s golf hosted the Chevron Collegiate at the Golf Club of Houston in Humble, Texas.

Across the 36-hole event, the Cougars finished eighth overall, highlighted by several strong individual performances.

Senior Moa Svedenskiöld led Houston by shooting a 66 in the final round, moving from her first round score of 73 to tied for fourth at 6-under 210.

She started the round in 11th place; however, after shooting birdies on three of the first five holes, she quickly moved up the leaderboard and earned a top-5 finish.

Junior Maelynn Kim also finished the tournament strong by shooting a 69 in Tuesday’s final round.

She went on to finish in eighth place with a total score of 4-under 212.

Kim is coming off a second-place finish at the Collegiate Individual with a score of 3-under 216, showing her consistency to begin the spring slate.

Senior Natalie Saint Germain and Emilia Väistö also got in the action, both finishing with a sub-par final round.

Germain ended the event 6-over par, tying her for 55th. Väistö followed close behind with a 9-over par performance, and she finished tied for 66th.

No. 16 North Carolina won the team event, while Oregon junior Kiara Romero won individual medal honors with a score of 11-under 205.

Next up, the Cougars will take on the Lady Luck Individual at Las Vegas Country Club from March 2-3.
