With the help of senior Hudson Weibel’s 8-under 205 individual championship finish, Houston men’s golf captured a sweep of the Border Olympics at Laredo Country Club Tuesday, headlining double-barrel tournament action for the Cougars.
In shooting their third straight team round of par or lower for a final score of 2-under 850, the Cougars finished two strokes ahead of North Texas and Tarleton State to clinch their second team championship of 2025-26, the first since their season-opening win in the Argent Financial Classic.
With three birdies on the first nine and two on the second, Weibel finished with a record-low round 67 in the final round to clinch his third individual championship of the season, finishing two strokes ahead of Wichita State senior Jose Ramirez.
Weibel became the first Cougar since Michael Perras in his sophomore 2015-16 campaign to win at least three individual championships in a season.
Joining Weibel in the top-10 was junior Chi Chun Chen, who finished at 4-under 212 tying for eighth with Lamar senior David Schneider Jerez.
In shooting a 68 in his final round, senior Grant Doggett took a 14-spot jump to finish tied for 11th.
