Houston football will open up Big 12 play at Texas Tech on Sept. 19, the league announced Wednesday morning as part of the 2026 conference schedule reveal.
It will be Houston’s first time playing in Lubbock since its inaugural Big 12 campaign three years prior in 2023.
After facing Texas Tech and Georgia Southern on the road in consecutive weeks, the Cougars will host UCF on Oct. 3 for their conference play home opener.
After, Houston will travel to Manhattan, Kan., to face Kansas State on Oct. 10.
The last time the Cougars played the Wildcats was Nov. 2, 2024, when they pulled off a 24-19 upset of what was then-No. 17 Kansas State at TDECU Stadium.
Houston will then return home to host Oklahoma State on Oct. 17, before taking off to Salt Lake City to face Utah for the first time since 1977 on Oct. 24.
Following a bye week, the Cougars will welcome Cincinnati on Nov. 7.
The closing stretch of the regular season includes back-to-back road games against Colorado and West Virginia, on Nov. 14 and Nov. 21, respectively.
UH will end the regular season against Baylor at home on Nov. 28. It’s the second consecutive season Houston will end its regular season against the Bears.
Both Texas Tech and Utah finished above Houston in the Big 12 standings, with the Red Raiders finishing 8-1 in conference and Utah at 7-2.
