The No. 1-ranked center in the 2026 class, Arafan Diane, announced his commitment to Houston on Wednesday, his 18th birthday.

The 7-foot-1 standout is originally from Guinea, West Africa and plays at Iowa United Prep.

Diane selected Houston over Arkansas, Kentucky, Indiana and Virginia.

According to 247Sports, Diane is the No. 13 overall prospect in the 2026 class and now ranks as the fourth-highest recruit in Houston history, trailing only freshman center Chris Cenac Jr., former Cougar Jarace Walker and freshman guard Isiah Harwell.

It also marks the second consecutive year Houston has landed the top-ranked center in high school, following Cenac’s commitment last cycle.
