Houston redshirt senior middle blocker Kellen Morin announced Thursday on Instagram that she tore her ACL for a second time, effectively ending her collegiate volleyball career.

“I will miss you, volleyball, but I am ready for life after you,” Morin wrote in the post.

Morin, who ranks fourth in the Big 12 with 1.29 blocks per set this season, suffered the injury during the fourth set of Houston’s match against West Virginia on Oct. 30 cutting her comeback campaign short.

Morin missed the entirety of the 2024 season after suffering an ACL tear during the spring season, giving her an additional year of eligibility.

The North Carolina native concludes her Houston career with over 300 blocks.

In 2023, she set the school’s single-season hitting percentage record with a .388 mark, a year after helping the Cougars reach their first Sweet 16 since 1994 in her first season with the program.

In her post, Morin thanked her mother, who also suffered two ACL injuries playing basketball at American University.

“Yes, my volleyball career has ended prematurely, but my mother has demonstrated there is life and great success after experiencing great adversity,” she wrote. “There is so much achievement left to have, love left to give and life left to experience after overwhelming injury.”
