While Houston men’s basketball is gearing up for the upcoming season, the Big 12 Conference has released its preseason picks, including the coaches poll, all-conference team, player of the year and more.
Coaches poll
Houston placed first in the coaches poll with 224 points, taking 14 of the 16 first-place votes. BYU placed second with 204 points and one first-place vote, Texas Tech third with 200 points and Arizona fourth with 179 points and one first-place vote.
Kansas, which placed first in last season’s coaches poll, got sixth with 163 points.
All-Conference team
The Cougars had three players make the All-Big 12 Preseason Team: 2025 Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year and Lefty Driesell Award winner JoJo Tugler, 2025 Big 12 Tournament MVP and one of the nation’s best 3-point shooters Emanuel Sharp and 2025 All-Big 12 Second Team selection Milos Uzan, who received a unanimous selection bid.
With several key additions to the team, Houston will be looking to make it over the hump and win its first national championship in the program’s history.
