Kingston Flemings declares for NBA draft: ‘I’ll be a Cougar for life.’

Houston freshman guard Kingston Flemings announced his decision to enter the NBA draft Sunday afternoon.

Flemings’ historic season earned consensus second-team All-American honors, becoming the youngest player in program history to receive such a distinction.

“I’ll be a Cougar for life. That’s for sure,” said Flemings at a press conference inside Fertitta Center with media and family in attendance. 

The 6-foot-4 San Antonio native set numerous freshman program records, including total points, assists and games started. 

Flemings’ career-high in points came as he scored 42 on 15-for-26 shooting in a losing effort to Texas Tech on Jan. 24. 

Among his honors were making the 2025-26 All-Big 12 first team, as well as landing on the conference’s starting five of the week six times throughout the season.

“I think the best thing that kids do today is, they don’t choose schools, they choose coaching staffs,” coach Kelvin Sampson said. “And I think Kingston chose the right coaching staff for him.”

Flemings joins fellow freshman forward Chris Cenac Jr. as Cougars declaring for the NBA draft, potentially adding to Houston’s growing list of first-round draft selections under Sampson.
