Houston women’s golf finishes fall season at Landfall Tradition

Houston women’s golf finished its final team tournament of the fall season with a strong showing in the final round at the Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, N.C.

The Cougars shot a 7-under par 281 on Sunday, which was their lowest team score of the event, to clinch a seventh-place finish in the three-day event at the Country Club of Landfall’s Pete Dye Course.

Houston finished with a total team score of 874, which is one of the top overall performances of the fall season.

Senior Moa Svedenskiold led the way with an outstanding final round, firing a 68 with just one bogey.

With her performance in the tournament, the Sweden native recorded her first top-five finish of her career.

Senior Alexa Saldana also delivered a strong showing by carding a 71 in the final round, highlighted by an eagle.

Saldana tied for 14th place and finished one-over par.

Senior Natalie Saint Germain finished with a score of 70 on the final round largely due to a strong start where she birdied on four of her first six holes.

She finished the tournament tied for 33rd place with a final event total of 221.

Junior Maelynn Kim finished in 48th with a 224, and junior Ellen Yates followed in 85th with a 235.

After the Cougars slipped in the standings on Saturday, a strong Sunday showing placed them in seventh, and Houston women’s golf had an overall strong showing at its final team event of the fall.

While this tournament was the last team event, three Cougars will represent Houston individually at the Bear Brawl in Waco, Texas later this week.

Redshirt freshman Chiara Brambilla, sophomore Emilia Vaisto and freshman Sadie Adams will show their skills at the Ridgewood Country Club.

Following winter break, the Cougars will open their spring season at the Collegiate Individual in Guadalajara, Mexico, on Jan. 30-31.
